There is some major news brewing on the local diamonds! Our very own Montgomery County Little League (MCLL) 9-11 team has officially been crowned the Maryland State Champions after an unforgettable, gritty run in the state tournament.
Their path to the title wasn't easy, which makes the victory all the sweeter. After dropping an early game to a tough Conococheague Little League squad, our local kids found themselves with their backs against the wall in the double-elimination bracket.
What followed was nothing short of spectacular. Showing incredible resilience, teamwork, and heart, Montgomery County rattled off five consecutive wins to storm all the way back. Along the way, they avenged their loss to Conococheague and knocked out powerhouse teams from South Baltimore and St. Mary’s County.
The Championship Clash
It all came down to a high-stakes showdown against the Berlin/Willards Little League team. Our team brought the bats and locked down the defense, ultimately securing an 8-5 victory to claim the state crown.

What's Next? Massachusetts Bound!
The journey doesn't stop here. By earning the title of Maryland State Champions, the team is packing their bags and heading to Danvers, Massachusetts. They will be competing in the Little League East Region Invitational tournament starting Sunday, August 2.
These athletes have put in countless hours of hard work, sweat, and practice, and it is thrilling to see it pay off on the big stage.
Let’s rally behind our champions, Montgomery County! Good luck in Massachusetts! Bring home the region title!
